Bereavement Committee
Our parish averages 60 plus funerals a year and many parishioners take part in this very vital ministry.
PLANNERS:
The planner visits the family of the deceased to help them plan the funeral mass, choosing readings and hymns. The planner also arranges for Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Servers, Greeters, Organist and Choir.
LECTORS, EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS, SERVERS & GREETERS:
Many retired folks help in these capacities, especially weekdays.
CHOIR:
You don't have to have a fantastic voice - just a willingness to blend your voice with the other members of the choir.
LUNCHEON HELP:
There is a monthly rotation of people in charge of serving the luncheon which is offered to the family on the day of the funeral. These volunteers also make calls to parishioners who have offered to make items for the funeral luncheons.
MINISTRY OF CARE:
This is a recent addition to the program, chaired by Jody Akers and Doreen Hampton. This group does a follow-up after the funeral to see if they can be of any assistance.
VOLUNTEERS:
What would the parish do without you? To the volunteers we have now, many thanks for your dedication - you are much appreciated by the bereaved families. Call the office at 422-0602 if you are willing to help with this important ministry.
